I am Tor.

My passions are film, scuba diving and rugby.

I studied Film Production (BA) at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham, Britain. I loved the course, the enthusiasm and support of the lecturers and the skills that I acquired through the practical modules that covered a diverse range of subjects. My technical acquired skills in involve camera operating, editing, producing and directing films.

Of all the skills I have accrued so far, my favourite is camera operating and I aspire to become an underwater cinematographer – that is my goal. I have enjoyed learning to film with, and gained experience in, both digital and 16mm film (shot with a bolex camera). To date, I have worked on 3 films, 1 documentary and one crowdfunding video at UCA. I have also filmed, edited and produced a second crowdfunding video for start-up folk band. Jobs I did to make those happen included paperwork and producing (identifying shooting locations and asking the owners very nicely for permission to use them, conducting risk assessments, obtaining personal release forms, producing a timeline for the projects, arranging hire of the necessary equipment), cinematography (loading and unloading film cameras), making shot lists, creating storyboards, shooting, editing (ensuring colour are correct and sound is correlated) and ensuring the final work is as good as we can get it.

I grew up in Guernsey, Channel Islands from the age of 8 where I swam, dived, rowed, sailed and played rugby. I started my education at the Vale Junior School, took my GCSE’s (7) at St Sampsons High and obtained a BTEC in Media Studies at the Guernsey College of Further Eduction before receiving an offer to study at UCA.

I have been diving since I was 8, I have always been fascinated with the sea and enjoy watching nature documentaries (David Attenborough is my favourite). In 2013 / 2014 I took a year out from studying and had a Cyprus – Thailand – Cyprus sandwich. Summer 2013 was my second season of working at Latchi Watersports as a Dive Master (beautiful place, brilliant people). I left in November and travelled to Koh Tao, Thailand to intensively train in diving. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to train with the fabulous team at Crystal Dive, I then worked at various dive centres in Koh Tao as a freelance Dive Instructor, and by the time I left in March 2014 I had qualified as a PADI Staff Instructor. I returned to Cyprus for the summer of 2014 (and again in 2015 after my 1st year at UCA) to work as a Staff Instructor. I imagine diving is a love that will continue to take me around the world.

Following university, I have been based in Guernsey, Channel Islands. I have been working as a freelance camera technician for NetPlay TV (Betsson Group). Living on the island has also allowed my to pursue my hobbies of rugby, fitness training and begin learning to kite-surf.
